Title: “Molecules under confinement”
This lecture follows the course of reactions that take place in container compounds. These containers are deep, open-ended compounds – cavitands – that largely surround their target molecules and confine their motions. The selectivity of the recognition event and the forces involved are described. Progress on the development of water-soluble cavitands and their applications to difficult macrocyclizations and separations are reported.
