Area A: Modifications on Nucleic Acids

Project A01 – Discovery of novel RNA modifications and targets of RNA writer enzymes

We will continue our search for novel modified nucleosides focusing on the identification of RNA modifications in human cells. Here, our recently developed method for metabolic stable isotope labelling in human cell culture will be a decisive advantage to find links between RNA and other biomolecule classes within human cells. With isotope labeling in cell culture we will continue to identify RNA writers and determine the in vivo function of RNA erasers such as AlkBH1 and AlkBH3. In a third project we will determine the RNA modification profile in response to compounds known to change the epigenome.
