Project C08 – The epigenetic-metabolic interplay in development and disease
This project investigates how metabolic enzymes in the nucleus influence epigenetic regulation through the local generation of key metabolites. Using mass spectrometry-based organellar profiling, we map metabolite-producing enzymes at subcellular resolution, with particular emphasis on their nuclear localization and underlying regulatory mechanisms. By integrating proteomic and epigenomic approaches, the project seeks to uncover fundamental principles linking cellular metabolism to chromatin regulation, thereby providing mechanistic insight into how these processes are coordinated during differentiation and in disease states.
