Project C07 – Synthetic aromatic foldamer-based molecular tools for interference with protein-nucleic acid interactions and protein-protein interactions

The project aims to deliver aromatic oligoamide foldamer-based ligands able to interfere with proteins relevant to chromatin structure and chromatin epigenetic modifications.  In a first approach, foldamers able to mimic the shape and charge surface properties of B-DNA will be designed and synthesized to disrupt protein-nucleic acid interactions. In a second approach, display selection will be used to identify foldamer-peptide macrocycles that selectively bind epigenetic targets. The structural basis of foldamer-protein interactions will be investigated. The foldamers’ bioavailability will be subsequently improved.
