Project B02 – Dynamics of epigenetic protein modifications and RNA interactions
In this project, we ask the question if post-synthetic modifications influence the interaction of proteins with RNA to modulate their function. During the first funding period, we characterized the target and substrate spectrum of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors. We will now use these inhibitors as tools to screen for proteins that change their interaction with RNA when acetylated and investigate how this change occurs on the level of RNA-binding regions.
